The Month in Review...Hello
all, I am back…well mostly…as you may know hubby and I moved to England at
the start of May, then before I knew it, it was time for my class in Turkey,
I have been back a couple of days & have had a cold…so I am getting back to
work a bit slow...I have to say that my time in Turkey at the
www.glassfurnace.org was one of the best times teaching glass, living
glass and being with glass lovers & artists ever…I met
the most wonderful people from all corners of the planet…I met the most
wonderful glass guru, king, master Vladimir Kline who’s work you can see by
clicking here, he was the other teacher at the school at the same time I was
there…
For 2 weeks, 6 days a week, about 8 hours a day, on 4
of the days we stayed for another 2 hours after dinner…
In this intense hot classroom, both from the 12
torches, the kilns, & the weather, we made beads, had some fun, drank some
Tequila from Mexico supplied by our new friend (well not in class) & glass artist Hector
Flores…some of us even drank the famed Turkish drink of Raki, not me, I am
not that brave…we went on outings to museums & the famed bazaar in
Sultanahmet…everyday I was fed great food, not only by the school, but also
by most of my students, must have gained 5 or more pounds, tasting all the
Turkish specialties I was offered (mostly by Burcu), I have to say I would
do it again if asked…the food and the pastry in Turkey are not matched
anywhere in world…
I met and fell in love with a lot of great people in the two week class, I
thank them all and the
www.glassfurnace.org for the wonderful time, and look forward to my next
trip there…our Social Assistant Beyza, also known to us as the Life Saver,
put over 1000 photos from all of our cameras on dvds & gave each one of us
one…so I am going to tell you the story of my trip and amazing new friends
and students with photos, I will add new info & Pics when ever I get a
chance…for now click here to see the story & photos
of my time teaching at
the
www.glassfurnace.org in Turkey…
As for new
beads I will have some for you by Monday June 30th, I
will list them on
Etsy as usual…
As for the
winners of the Beauty Contest, I was not able to contact the same
person at Fire Mountain Gems to conduct the contest, so I am going to have
my new students, pick out the winner, I should have the results by next Monday
July thth as well…click here for
more details.
